Love Nutrient Ji Bao Wang (鸡煲王) @ Georgetown, Penang.

It's difficult to immature adult woman Ji Bao Wang (鸡煲王), non entirely does the strategic place (at the corner of Larut Road to Hutton Lane too Burmah Road, side yesteryear side to KFC Larut Road or contrary to Hotel Royal Penang) gives the eating theatre an border inwards exposure, the playful-catchy banner that says "我要叫鸡" has caught a lot of attending equally good (shall non hold upwardly translated into English). As the tagline may suggest, the identify specializes inwards serving diverse types of Chicken Hot Pot but the signature dish hither is the Sze Chuan-influenced Chicken Hot Pot. The dining concept is somewhat interesting- diners volition hold upwardly served a ready-to-eat Chicken Hot Pot, hot soup volition too thus hold upwardly added when y'all are done. It too thus becomes Steamboat too diners may at nowadays adjourn to the display fridges to selection upwardly the preferred ingredients to hold upwardly added to the soup (prices vary according to the colors of the plates). The interior decor is modern too chic but amongst a comport on of mainland People's Republic of China Chinese flair. Price points are high but the character is less-satisfying, the authenticity is missing (lackluster service too below-par quality, pretty disappointing). Ironically, nosotros too thus establish out that this identify is a sis eating theatre to Chong Qing Steamboat (at Kelawei Road).

Special Chicken Hot Pot (Rm 49/ small)

Thinly sliced Beef (Rm 12)

Deep Fried Bean Curd Sheet (Rm 4)

[Red Plate] Lobster Balls (Rm 5)

[Red Plate] Sweet Potato Noodles (Rm 5)

[Green Plate] Sze Chuan Noodles (Rm 4)

[White Plate] Home-made Fish Balls (Rm 7)

We opted for medium spiciness but the signature Chicken Hot Pot did non alive upwardly to our expectation. Not entirely that it was non spicy at all, the flavors were subdued. It did non ship whatever distinctive Sze Chuan flavour but simply a stir-fried Chicken dish overly drenched inwards oil, literally one-half of the pot was covered inwards oil. While nosotros struggled to destination the Chicken (as it was equally good oily), nosotros chop-chop requested the server to add together inwards the soup. It did non whatever better, 1 time nosotros added heavy starch ingredients similar the Potato Noodles, the broth turned uncomfortably thick too starchy. With the continuous heating, it was fast boiling too nearly burnt (at the bottom of the part). We too thus requested the server to "top up" the soup but was declined for the reason- "the pot withal contained enough of soup" too he completely ignored the "thickness" of the soup. Soon.... nosotros detected an unpleasant smoky stench (the bottom was burnt). Untrained staff yet unable to empathise mandarin (ironically inwards a Chinese restaurant) is quite a serious occupation to facial expression into.

Also, about of the ingredients were non equally fresh equally nosotros would convey hoped. The home-made Fish Balls were a disaster. Once nosotros popped them into the boiling soup, they dissolved instantly too were no longer hold upwardly found. The Beef slices were miserably equally well- overly fine yet amongst night flecks on them. Pretty disappointing.
