Love Nutrient Shan Jie Dessert Household (姗姐甜品屋) @ Siam Road, Georgetown, Penang.

For a bowl of classic, old-school Tong Sui to hold upwards enjoyed inwards the belatedly afternoon, take in Shan Jie Dessert House (姗姐甜品屋) at Siam Road of Georgetown. The newly opened dessert specialist tin hold upwards flora reverse to the famous Siam Road Char Koay Teow; occupying a infinite on the upper flooring of a store lot. The interior decor is simple... amongst basic tables together with chairs; the heat-intolerant mightiness hold upwards disappointed amongst the lack of air-conditioners, it gets pretty stuffy inwards hot afternoons. On the menu, it offers timeless local Chinese Tong Sui (expect to come across Red Bean Soup, Mung Bean Soup, Bee Koh Moy, Sweet Potato Soup together with Glutinous Rice Balls etc) at wallet-friendly prices.

Hot Mochi amongst Peanut together with Sesame Sprinkles (Rm 4.90)

Bee Koh Moy amongst Vanilla Ice Cream (Rm 4.90)

Glutinous Rice Balls amongst Osmanthus Soup (Rm 6.90)

Shan Jie's Hot Mochi is a pop item, amongst freshly cooked Mochi (Japanese chewy Rice Cake) beautifully coated amongst Sesame together with Peanut Sugar. Each companionship requires a minimum hold back of xv minutes. We expected the gustation would hold upwards quite like to Muar Chee (local delicacy) but it was non quite the case. Something was missing together with nosotros suspected it was because of the Peanut Powder, it gets pretty monotonous towards the end. Equally disappointing was the Glutinous Rice Balls amongst Osmanthus Soup. The Glutinous Rice Balls amongst fillings were non cooked thoroughly, certainly parts were pretty difficult to hold upwards chewed. The Osmanthus flavour was rather muted equally well, equally though nosotros were having ordinary sweetened soup. Bee Koh Moy amongst Vanilla Ice Cream was okay... though nosotros would prefer thicker Coconut Milk amongst bolder salty essence.
